Gene Vincent Knisley, 74, loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, passed away March 26, 2015, surrounded by family. Visitation will be 9:30am Monday, March 30 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 919 NE 96th Street, Kansas City, Mo. 64155. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00am with interment at Resurrection Cemetery. Gene is survived by his devoted wife, Joyce; sons Gene Knisley Jr. and Scott Knisley (Erin) and granddaughter, Megan. He is also survived by 6 brothers and 2 sisters. Gene is survived by his devoted wife, Joyce; sons Gene Knisley Jr. and Scott Knisley (Erin) and granddaughter, Megan. He is also survived by 6 brothers and 2 sisters. Gene was a Scout Master and life member of Boy Scouts of America. He worked for Newcomer’s Funeral home prior to starting Clay Platte Ambulance, his own ambulance manufacturing company in 1967. A deep commitment to small business and civic leadership led Gene to serve on many boards including chairman of Municipal Ambulance Services (MAST.) Gene served on Synergy Services Board of Directors from 1978-1984 to develop programs for homeless and runaway youth. He served Clay County community services for 35 years including 25 years with the Planning and Zoning Commission. Beloved by all who knew him, Gene will be sadly missed.
